The country’s diving queen, who is also preparing for the Tokyo Olympics, showed strong character and composure to beat her rivals with a 355.70 total to win the women 10m platform individual event at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre on Wednesday (May 5th).
According to the New Straits Times, with the absence of China, Australia and North Korea divers, the opportunity was there for the 28-years old to grab a first-ever podium win in diving.
Of course, she did not disappoint!
Japan’s Matsri Arai finished strongly at second place with 342.00 while Canada’s Caeli McKay snatched bronze with a huge effort in her last dive for a total of 338.55.
Pandelela will return to the Tokyo Aquatics Centre for her fourth Olympics campaign in July, and we have high hopes that she will make the country proud again!
Congratulations, Pandelela!
