Members of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) have been advised to not be on the social media app, Tik Tok, while on duty as it is “inappropriate and tarnishes the team’s image”, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.

According to Astro Awani, he said acts such as dancing are not suitable for an officer or member of a uniformed team because it is a “disgrace” to the PDRM uniform.
"It is not suitable when a member or an officer in a uniformed unit does an act such as 'dancing' and this should be made a disciplinary offense as it disgraces the PDRM uniform.”
"This blue uniform should be respected so it is not sweet nor cute if the wearer of this uniform does something that does not suit its work culture," he told reporters after presenting a certificate of appreciation to the PDRM members in Bukit Aman.
He also said that the TikTok issue among police officers and members of the police force would be discussed further with the Director of Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) Datuk Zamri Yahya.
“We will further discuss to learn about the good and bad, and maybe I will issue a statement or instruction regarding this matter,” he said.

Last Saturday, a female police officer from the Kelantan Contingent Police Headquarters faced disciplinary action after uploading a dance video on TikTok while wearing the PDRM uniform.
Following that, Kelantan Police Chief DCP Shafien Mamat said the video then went viral on social media, which affected the image of the department and the PDRM code of ethics.
What do you think about this? Should uniformed personnel be allowed to do TikToks while in uniform?
