Not Everyone Is So Lucky During This MCO Period

This is heartbreaking!

The implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) has affected many people, especially those who work paycheck-to-paycheck.

A family living in Pasir Gudang, Johor can only afford to have rice and sugar for meals after running out of money during this MCO period.

According to Sinar Harian, 30-year-old Roslan A Aliudins says his wife, 26-year-old Nurul Nisa Irmin could only afford to have either cooked rice or porridge after receiving some help from the Taman Cendana Resident’s Association.

Originally from Lahad Datu, Sabah, Roslan has been living in Johor for almost 10 years.

“Since the MCO, I haven’t been able to work even though I still receive calls to do wiring works at houses. At first, I could scrape by with the money I have saved up but after a week ago, my savings ran out,” he said.

His only source of income is doing electrical wiring works which he has not been able to do after the MCO was implemented in the country.

The chairman of the Taman Cendana Resident’s Association, Mr. Shamsul Bahrin Ibrahim has given food aid consisting of fish and vegetables to 3,000 recipients provided by Econsave supermarket to the residents of the neighbourhood.

“For four days, our menu has only been cooked rice or porridge with sugar or fried rice” he added.

Not everyone has been lucky since the MCO was implemented. We hope that Mr. Roslan and his family will be able to make it through this difficult time, with the support of those around them.

Take care of each other, guys! Check in on your neighbour to see if they’re doing ok!
