No Action Will Be Taken Against You If Your License Or Road Tax Expired During MCO

Your license expired and you’ve been driving with an overdue license since the Movement Control Order (MCO) was implemented? Well, don’t worry...

According to The Star, Road Transport Department (JPJ) director-general Datuk Seri Shaharuddin Khalid said that the two million Malaysians whose license and road tax has expired won’t have any actions taken against them.

That’s a relief!

Datuk Seri Shaharuddin said: “Since March 18 and as of June 14, a total of 2,119,653 road tax and 2,184,508 driving licenses are yet to be renewed.”

The exemption would last as long as the MCO is still in effect, which is until 31 August.

But do not take advantage of this, guys, you still have to renew your license and road tax even though no action will be taken against you, “The enforcement will resume once the MCO ends if there are no further extensions,” he added.

So, just renew your road tax or licenses whenever you’re free as the JPJ counters are open every day to ease all your procedures (but, make sure to maintain social distancing as there’s going to be a lot of people there!).

However, if you’re too lazy to queue and be out in public right now, you can also opt to renew it online via mySikap, and Pos Malaysia will even deliver it to your houses starting 1st July.

Be responsible, especially now that you can do everything online!
