The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has forecasted a dangerous level of continuous heavy rains, red alert in Jeli, Kelantan and Kuantan, Pahang the whole day today (December 31st).
In a statement, MetMalaysia also sounded the orange (severe rain) and yellow (high alert) advisories for several other states across the country until January 1st.
The states and districts issued with an orange alert were Kelantan (Tanah Merah, Machang, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang), Terengganu (Besut, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun) and Pahang (Jerantut, Maran and Pekan).
Meanwhile, yellow alert was issued for Perlis, Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Pendang, Sik and Baling), Hulu Perak district in Perak, Kelantan (Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Bachok and Pasir Puteh), Terengganu (Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu and Marang) and Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis and Rompin).

The yellow alert was also issued for Ranau, Lahad Datu in Tawau, Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Sandakan, as well as Kudat in Sabah.
