Man Who Started Sivagangga Super Spreader Gets Fined, And Five Months Jail

The nasi kandar restaurant owner in Jitra, Kedah who let the outbreak of the Sivagangga cluster spread has been sentenced to five months’ jail and fined RM12,000, as reported by BERNAMA.

The Sivagangga cluster, named as such as the man had recently returned from Sivagangga, India, and had violated the two-week home quarantine order. 

It has since emerged as one of the largest active clusters in the country with 45 active cases as of noon yesterday (August 13th).

According to Astro Awani, the nasi kandar stall has been ordered to close permanently. 

Kedah MB, Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor says that further action will be taken once the Targeted Enhanced Movement Control Order (TEMCO) is over on August 30th.
