Man United Finish The Season Empty Handed Again

Manchester United are out of this season's Europa League after a 2-1 defeat to Sevilla in the semifinals.

This is their third defeat in a semifinal this season, having also made their exit at the same stage of the FA Cup and League Cup.

It means the Red Devils end the season empty-handed yet again.

They've now gone without a major trophy for the third season in a row, their longest barren run for 31 years.

The last time United went this long without a trophy, was their four-season long dry spell between 1985 and 1989.

The stats may make for grim reading, but its not all doom and gloom for Ole Gunnar Solskjær's side when you look at their season objectively.

For starters, they finished third in the Premier League, besides making the semis in Europe and in both domestic cup competitions.

Not bad for what was only Solskjær's first full season in charge.

More importantly, Solskjær has also overseen a return to the fast, attacking style of play that the club had become famous for under the great Sir Alex Ferguson.

Most pundits agree that if United can make one or two shrewd midfield and defensive additions over the summer to complement the Martial-Rashford-Greenwood-Fernandes attack, the club may just become a force to be reckoned with once again.
