Man Tries To Steal Car With A Child In Back Seat, Stopped By Malaysians

A 12-year-old girl was rescued by Malaysians after the car that she was in was stolen in Seri Manjung, Perak on Thursday (May 20th).

The incident took place around 11:30 am when the victim’s mother was out buying some things at the store, while the victim was left alone in the car with the engine and air-conditioner still on and the car unlocked.

According to Manjung District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Nor Omar Sappi, the 36-year-old woman was shocked when she saw a man getting into the vehicle with her daughter still inside.

In a statement, he said: “She tried to stop the car, but the suspect continued to drive away and even sped up the car. But with the help of people around the area, the suspect was finally arrested.”

The 24-year-old suspect was arrested at around 12 pm on the same day after his department received a report and early screening found that the suspect was positive for methamphetamine. However, he does not have a past criminal record. 

He also added that the case will be investigated under Section 363 of the Penal Code.
