The 35-year-old man was arrested by a team from the mobile patrol unit for driving in a suspicious manner at 6:10 am.

Brickfields district police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Omar said that further inspection found 15 stamped and signed CMCO travel permits from a police station, suspected to be fake.

Anuar said, “Investigations on the fake documents are still ongoing. We will see whether they are for personnel use or being sold to interested parties.”

The suspect has been remanded for four days until April 27th to assist with the investigation, carried out under Section 22(d) of the Emergency (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases) (Amendment) Ordinance 2021.

He added that the act of falsifying the CMCO travel permit which runs contrary to the current directive of the National Security Council (MKN) can be charged according to the law.

Aiya, this is so irresponsible! We get it, we all miss our families and want to balik kampung for Hari Raya, but faking travel permits is not the right way to do it.

We’re all in this together, guys. Remember to always abide by the SOPs and stay safe!
