This dazzling meteor shower could be seen at certain locations across Malaysia and the pictures we saw on Twitter was taken at Kota Belud, Sabah – and it caught a lot of attention.

According to NASA, the Quadrantids meteor shower is considered to be one of the best meteor showers of the year, due to its bright fireball meteors.

Its explosions of light and colour is said to last longer than other meteor streaks, and they also appear to be brighter.

This phenomenon occurs due to the debris left behind by the 2003 EH1 asteroid.

Different from the solar eclipse, the Quadrantids meteor shower does not require any special equipment – depending on the weather, it can be seen with the naked eye.

Did you manage to catch it?
