In conjunction with International Women’s Day, the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM), together with Epic has launched the ‘Malaysian Women Unite’ campaign as one of the planned activities.

Its main objective is to encourage a sense of unity among Malaysians, and this year’s campaign is set to focus on the Orang Asli community.

This ‘Malaysian Women Unite’ campaign aims to strengthen the institution to the family by ensuring that their basic needs — especially the need for a safe home are realised. In return this will contribute towards a healthier and more sustainable society.

This is a platform for us Malaysians, to work together to aid these families in need — and help raise a minimum fundraising target of RM850,000 through crowdfunding on social impact platform, Sedunia, including corporate sponsorships.

The collected funds will, of course, help build them a home through Epic Homes, and will benefit 17 Orang Asli families in Kampung Sungai Kelubi, Rawang.

Yayasan Kebajikan Negara, under the Ministry’s purview, has pledged to fund one home. Other sponsors including Love Force House of Charity and individual donor, Ms. Lim May Jian.

Other than cash donations, Malaysians also have the opportunity to get involved directly via Epic Homes. The public can participate in the home-building process, which uses a rapid construction technology.

So with every RM50,000 successfully raised (a cost for one home), Epic Homes will sign up interested individuals to volunteer for a 3-day build!

As a kickstart to the campaign, the first home was built from 28 February to 1 March 2020 by a 45-women team comprising of Ministry personnel and the general public.

This marks Epic Home’s very first all-women build, a feat that has been submitted to the Malaysia Book of Records for review.

The campaign will run across a span of three months from 1 March until 31 May 2020.

So ladies, what are you waiting for? Be part of the team and visit Malaysian Women Unite for more information on how to participate!
