malaysia will experience cold weather like london in february? keep dreaming!

We know it’s been raining a lot lately, and the weather has just been heavenly to sleep in or take that afternoon nap, but guys, don’t go around getting excited about apparent “weather pattern changes” here…

We’ve been through this before, and that’s not about to change!

Malaysians have been all riled up about the ongoing monsoon season, so much so that some got too optimistic and started spreading claims that we’ll be experiencing cold weather like London in February.

In an official statement, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said these claims, which have gone viral on social media, are false claims that had been spread in 2016 and were reposted.

It explained that the cold weather condition experienced in most areas in the peninsula, especially the East Coast and West Coast at this time of the year, is due to the continuous humid and cloudy weather for several days and the cold winds.

Also, the cloudy conditions and continuous lack of sunlight for several days contributed to the cooler than normal weather in the country.

The lowest minimum daily temperature of 21 and 22 degrees Celsius were recorded on Sunday (January 3rd) in Terengganu, Pahang and Johor, and the situation was normal for a cloudy and rainy day.

MetMalaysia has advised the public to get authentic information on weather forecasts and warnings through the official website and official social media site of MetMalaysia or through the hotline 1-300-22-1638 and the myCuaca application.
