Malaysia To Increase Purchase Of COVID-19 Vaccine To Immunise 60-70% Of Malaysians

malaysia to increase purchase of covid-19 vaccine to immunise 60-70% of malaysians

The government is planning to increase its purchase of the COVID-19 vaccine to immunise 60 to 70 percent of Malaysians.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says this is because some nations had purchased doses exceeding their population.

So far, doses procured by the government are sufficient for 30 percent of the population.

Malaysia had conducted initial negotiations with 10 out of 12 different vaccine research manufacturers, who are currently in the third phase of clinical trial.

Earlier, the Health Ministry (MOH) said it will ensure COVID-19 vaccines approved to be registered and marketed in Malaysia are safe, of good quality and have optimum efficacy, according to requirements set by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine that will be obtained by Malaysia in the first quarter of next year will only involve individuals aged 18 and above.

The vaccine is really the light at the end of the tunnel. Let’s hope this will put an end to COVID-19!
