Malaysia reported 260 new COVID-19 cases today (October 1st), the highest number of infections since the start of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

Also, the Health Director-General confirmed four new clusters were detected.

Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said they were found in Selangor, Sabah, Kedah and the Federal Territories.

"Four new clusters have been reported, in Selangor - Meru cluster, in Sabah - Joo Hwa cluster, in Kuala Lumpur - Selasih cluster, and in Kedah - Bah Ketil cluster," he said.

The death toll remains at 136.

The government is set to restrict inter-district travel in Sabah, following a surge in COVID-19 cases.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the restriction will begin from this Saturday, until October 16th.

However, the order does not apply to essential services such as the deliveries of food and medical supply.

Elsewhere, the Pahang government said business premises in districts which have reported a positive COVID-19 case, will only be allowed to operate until midnight.

However, state authorities said medical centers and petrol stations in affected districts are exempted from this order.

The Federal Territories Ministry is set to review SOPs for restaurants and bars in KL, because of a high number of RMCO rule breaches.

This, as many people are still visiting pubs and nightclubs, even though these premises are not allowed to operate during the RMCO.
