You can now enjoy a delicious meal at your favourite eateries after the government gave the green light for restaurants to resume dine-in services.

The Malaysian Public Health Physicians’ Association (PPPKAM) told Astro Radio News this move is timely as it can help revive the economy.

But PPPKAM president Datuk Dr Zainal Ariffin Omar said both eateries and patrons must take extra precautions in order to stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Restaurant operators must strictly adhere to SOPs. They must ensure that there’s proper ventilation and physical distancing. Customers should also choose to only dine-in at restaurants that are less crowded,” he said

Dr Zainal also reminded patrons to continue practising basic SOPs such as using hand sanitisers and face masks.

This comes after the government announced yesterday (February 9th) that only two people will be allowed to share a table at food outlets, with physical distancing of at least 1 metre.

As we are currently under the Movement Control Order (MCO), restaurants and eateries will be allowed to operate from 6am to 10pm.

But when will restaurants be able to look and feel like they did before the pandemic?

“It would take a long time. May be a year or two, when the cases go down,” said Dr Zainal.

“Operators can also consider innovating or changing their business model to stay in operation.”

Stay home as much as you can, guys. But if you're heading out, always remember to follow SOPs!
