Parents who have to send their kids to school in another district or state, no longer need to obtain permission from police to do so.
During his daily press briefing yesterday (February 25th), Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said parents just need to show police a letter from their children’s school at roadblocks, and they’ll be allowed to pass through.
This is to help parents as they prepare for the start of the new school term, which is due to commence on March 1st for primary schools and on April 1st for secondary schools.
Ismail also assured that the directive will be conveyed to all ground police officers nationwide, so there shouldn’t be any confusion at roadblocks.
On February 19th, the Education Ministry (MOE) announced that pre-school, Standard 1 and Standard 2 classes will start on March 1st, while Standards 3 to 6 sessions will commence on March 8th.
As for secondary school students, those in the Group A states of Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu will start school on April 4th, while secondary students in Group B states will attend school from April 5th, which is after the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2020 examination.
