After an incredible run stretching 1,369 days, Liverpool have finally fallen to a league defeat on home soil.
And it took a plucky Burnley side to breach ‘Fortress Anfield’.
Their 1-0 win over the Reds this morning (January 22nd) was the first time in nearly four years that a team has come away with all three points after visiting the Reds.
It brings an end to Liverpool’s highly-impressive 68-match home unbeaten streak in the league, during which they recorded 55 wins and 13 draws at Anfield.
Crystal Palace was the last away team to win in front of the Kop all the way back in April 2017.
Only Chelsea’s run of 86 league games unbeaten at Stamford Bridge was longer, stretching from February 2004 to October 2008.
To make matters worse, Liverpool’s defeat to Burnley also means they’ve now gone five league matches without a win, and four games without scoring a goal.
That is not good news for the defending champions who are now fourth in the standings, six points adrift of leaders Manchester United.
