As our daily COVID-19 numbers continue to fluctuate, the Education Ministry (MOE) has moved to close all 298 schools (public and private) in Selangor’s Petaling district, starting today (October 12th).
This, after the district was declared a COVID-19 red zone.
In an official statement, the Ministry wrote, “In line with the Prime Minister's statement on October 6th with regards to the government's decision to close schools in red zones, the Education Ministry wishes to inform that schools in the red zone in Petaling, Selangor will be closed from October 12th till 25th.”
Schools with hostels as well as vocational colleges will also be closed, and parents have been asked to bring their children home from the affected schools.
Here’s the full list:
The Ministry has also urged all schools to ensure that lessons are carried out from home, using the prepared manuals and texts available on its website.
It added that the affected schools may also reschedule their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) trials.
Stay safe and study hard, kids!
