kl and selangor joins klang for cmco

Following the rise in new COVID-19 cases around the Klang Valley over the past few days, the government has announced that the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) will be implemented in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur effective midnight, October 14th.

In his daily press briefing today (October 12th), Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this will be carried out till October 27th.

“Inter-district travels are also not allowed but exceptions could be given to employees traveling on work purposes which they must produce in the form of their work passes and authorisation from their employers,” he said.

Other restrictions include:

  • Only two persons from each household will be allowed to go out and buy essentials.
  • All education centres, houses of worship and parks will be closed.
  • All sports and recreational activities and gatherings involving large crowds will not be allowed to take place.
  • Entertainment centres will not be allowed to operate.

However, all economic activities can proceed as per usual, with a more detailed SOP to be announced soon.

Apart from Selangor and KL, the whole of Sabah will also be placed under the CMCO, and there are additional restrictions in the state:

  • Dawn-to-dusk rule (6:00am-6:00pm) for grocery shops, restaurants, food outlets, petrol stations, pharmacies and medical halls.
  • Dine-in is not allowed.
  • Markets are only allowed to operate between 6:00am and 2:00pm.
  • All small and medium businesses will need permission to operate.

Spread the word, people! Stay safe!
