We all saw this coming... Cristiano Ronaldo is now OFFICIALLY the greatest goalscorer in football with 760 career goals for club and country.
He hit the milestone after scoring in Juventus’ 2-0 win over Napoli in the Italian Super Cup.
His tally moves him one goal ahead of the previous record-holder, Austrian-Czech star Josef Bican.
Ronaldo has now scored 85 goals for Juve, adding to the 450 he netted with Real Madrid, 118 with Man United, 102 with Portugal and five with Sporting Lisbon.
But not everyone agrees that the Portuguese superstar is football’s ultimate goalscorer.
Some reports say Bican actually scored more than 800 goals over his career, it's just that official records of his achievements from the 1950s have gone missing.
And then of course, there are Brazilian legends Pelé and Romário.
Both claim to have scored well over a thousand goals, but their tally includes goals scored in exhibition matches, testimonials and other unofficial games, while record-keeping of some of their strikes is also questionable.
What we do know for certain, is that every one of Ronaldo’s 760 goals over his highly-decorated career has been well-documented.
Officially, at least, that makes him the greatest goalscorer to ever play the game.
