Online shopping is something that we’ve all done (and are probably fans of) and we can’t help but wonder if parcels delivered from China could be contaminated with the coronavirus.

According to Shopee’s Twitter post, all parcels will not be overlooked and will be uniformly disinfected by the airlines and will only be delivered after customs inspection and quarantine.

They also emphasized that there is no potential danger, as parcels take at least 24 hours to reach Malaysia and have a low risk of transmitting the virus, considering that the virus’s lifespan is rather short if it’s on a non-living object.

Shopee will continue to monitor the situation and take necessary action to ensure that Shopee is safe for shoppers.

According to the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM), at this time there is no evidence that the virus can survive on the surface of packages for a long period of time.

However, as a precaution, KKM has advised the public to use tissues with hand sanitizer or soap to wipe packages that have arrived from China. This is one of the simplest ways to “sanitize” the parcels.

So, stop spreading fake news on WhatsApp with chain messages about being infected through delivery packages from China!
