Investigation Into The Heroes Mural In Shah Alam Continues

Further investigations into the vandalism of the heroes mural at Section U12, Shah Alam is being carried out as the CCTV footage near the location of the incident was in very poor quality, said Shah Alam district police chief ACP Baharudin Mat Taib.

Several individuals have come forward to give their statements to the police in helping the investigation.

“Low-quality CCTV footage is making it difficult for us to enhance it. Apart from that, the area is a bit isolated, dark and there are not many CCTVs around, thus making it difficult to identify the suspects,” he added.

He further said: “Nevertheless, we have another way to track down the suspects, so leave it to us for further action.”

Many Malaysians were angry and upset when the murals, which consisted of portraits of Malaysia’s leaders - the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Health director-general Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, among others, were defaced with derogatory words.

Shah Alam district chief of police also urged the public who want to channel information related to criminal activities to the police to use the “Volunteer Smartphone Patrol” (VSP) application, as their identities will always be protected.
