Hong Kong has issued a ban on flights from Kuala Lumpur for two weeks, after five people coming in from India tested positive for COVID-19, whilst in transit here.
According to the South China Morning Post, they had flown Air India Express to KL, before taking Cathay Dragon to Hong Kong on Friday.
“As a result of the Civil Aviation Department directive, we will suspend our passenger services between Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong until October 3rd,” a spokesperson of Cathay Dragon said.
The company has assured that it’s working to trace anyone who was in close contact with passengers on board the flight, besides sanitising the aircraft, of course.
Passengers affected by the flight ban will be either refunded or given alternative travel arrangements.
Air India was issued a similar ban just last month, after several of its passengers tested positive for COVID-19 upon arrival in Hong Kong.
