Another day, another twist in the Lionel Messi transfer saga.
After shocking the football world by informing Barcelona last month that he wanted to leave, sources now say the Argentine superstar has had a change of heart.
It follows talks between Messi's agent and Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu, who is said to have pleaded with the player to stay at the Nou Camp.
Another side to the story claims that Messi u-turned on his decision to leave after realising he will not be able to get around his exit clause, which requires interested parties to pay 700 million Euros to secure his services.
There are also some who say that the player does not want to leave the club on bad terms, having spent his entire career there.
Those close to him say he'd rather wait one more season and say a proper farewell to the club and supporters, who have idolised him over the years.
Sticking around for one more year will also mean that Messi will be able to take advantage of his early-release clause, which will be re-activated once the new campaign begins.
This will allow him to leave Barca for free after next season.
Multiple reports say negotiations between Barca and Messi are currently ongoing, with the player looking likely to stay.
But don't rule out the possibility of Messi changing his mind once again, especially with Manchester City supposedly offering him a lucrative deal to move to the Etihad.
