Today (June 1st) marks the first day of the two-week total lockdown, during which all social activities are not allowed and only a few essential economic activities can resume.
This prompted a large number of vehicles to get on the road yesterday (May 31st), whether it be to run some last-minute errands or to return to their hometowns.
This, combined with the fact that several roadblocks have been implemented at selected toll plazas, led to some terrible traffic at some of those locations.
The heavy traffic started as early as 1 pm at the Duta toll plaza with a jam that caused up to a one-hour delay.

By 5 pm, there was a 3-kilometre jam on the KL-Seremban Highway from Sri Petaling heading towards the Sungai Besi toll.

As the evening went on, traffic got worse, namely at the Gombak toll and the Sungai Besi toll plazas on the KL-Karak Highway and KL-Seremban Highway respectively.
By 7 pm, most of the congestion around the Klang Valley had died down, but this was not the case for the two toll plazas.
On the KL-Karak Highway, it was still congested for 3 km from the Gombak R&R towards the Gombak toll.

Even though the rush hour had passed, traffic did not show any signs of improvement for both highways.

By 10 pm, traffic was getting smoother at the Sungai Besi toll, however, there was still a terrible jam at the Gombak toll. Traffic was heavy for 3 km from Kampung Batu Sebelas towards the Gombak toll up until midnight!
Hopefully everyone reached their respective destinations safely.
Phase one of the total lockdown, which starts today until June 14th, has been implemented in an effort to reduce the daily COVID-19 cases.
Please stay at home if you don’t have anything important to do outside. If you are required to leave your house, make sure you have the proper documents to show police officers, should you get stopped at a roadblock.
