The official statement from the cinema read, “We would like to take this opportunity to convey our sincere thanks and gratitude to all movie-goers who have supported GSC Pavilion KL since its opening. Do keep an eye out for future GSC locations and we can’t wait to see you again!”

GSC opened the doors to their outlet in Pavilion back in 2007.

The cinema operator said that showings will continue as usual at the location until it closes its doors on February 17th.

Pavilion Real Estate Investment Trust asset manager (retail) Dastuk Joyce Yap told The Edge Markets, the space left by GSC will be taken over by China-based cinema chain, Dadi Theater Circuit.

According to The Edge Markets, Dadi Cinema is China's second-largest cinema chain in 2019, and is reported a confirmed anchor tenant for Pavilion Bukit Jalil which is slated to begin operations in May 2021.

Movie-goers can still go to other GSC outlets in the KL area, mainly at Berjaya Times Square, Quill City Mall, and MyTown Cheras.
