Four Suspected Coronavirus Cases In Malaysia

All four suspected coronavirus cases in the country have tested negative, according to the Health Ministry.

According to the Malay Mail, the ministry confirmed that tests conducted on a suspected coronavirus (2019-nCoV) patient who was being treated in an isolation ward at a hospital in Sabah has found the person to be negative for the virus.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the patient had symptoms of Influenza A and is recovering and in stable condition.

The results of the detection and validation for 2019-nCoV virus on the patient by the Institute of Medical Research (IMR) confirmed that the patient tested negative for the Novel Coronavirus infection.

So far, all four suspected 2019-nCoV cases reported so far, (two cases in Sabah and two cases in Selangor) were all confirmed to be negative for the virus.

The World Health Organization has urged everyone to take some precautions to reduce the risk of the coronavirus infection.

  1. Clean hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub
  2. Cover nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with tissue or flexed elbow
  3. Avoid close contact with anyone with flu or cold-like symptoms
  4. Thoroughly cook meat and eggs
  5. No unprotected contact with live wild or farm animals
