According to health director-general Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, the girl was reported to be infected by the virus on Wednesday last week (29 Jan). She was successfully treated at Hospital Sultanah Maliha in Langkawi, Kedah and has been given the all-clear to return home to China.

During this period of treatment and monitoring, clinical samples were retrieved twice consecutively. The results of the 2019-nCoV repeated clinical test have been negative, proving to all Malaysians that there’s still hope in beating this deadly outbreak.

“This case shows that the 2019-nCoV infection is treatable and that the patient can recover completely, as like many other cases have also been reported in China,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

“The perception that this disease is fatal to those who contract it is inaccurate,” he added

Dr. Hisham also congratulated the staff of the hospital for providing intensive care and supervision

In his post, he included a few photos, released with permission from her family for publication, of the girl alongside her family, happy to be leaving the hospital.
