Pasir Mas District Police chief ACP Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif said groups found playing in floodwaters in Rantau Panjang and Pasir Mas will be slapped with a RM1,000 compound.
According to Astro Awani, this is among the measures taken by the state of Kelantan to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
He told reporters that every year, Rantau Panjang is likened to a water theme park for the people of Kelantan and that even food stalls are opened around the area during floods.
“A notification letter regarding the issuance of the compound has been sent to the Pasir Mas chief District Officer, including the local authorities.”

“We are concerned that if no action is taken, the people in the state will turn the floods into water carnivals like in previous monsoon seasons,” he said adding that sellers who set up stalls around Rantau Panjang would also be subjected to stern action.
He commented further that the authorities will not compromise those who violate the regulations, whether gathering in groups or celebrating a water festival this year.
Flood water or standing waters can be dangerous and can make you vulnerable to infectious diseases, chemical hazards, and injuries due to sharp objects hidden from sight.
Keep yourself and your loved ones safe, especially now!
