Do You Park Like A *Bleeep*?

Parking can often be pretty troublesome, especially when it’s in busy areas like Kuala Lumpur. That doesn’t give anyone the right to park wherever and however they want, though.

There have been numerous cases of double (even triple) parked cars that block entrances/exits, causing problems for those who want to leave.

Even worse, what about people who are in a hurry or are facing an emergency? It’s downright selfish to block someone else for your own convenience.

Then there are the ones who do not even leave their phone numbers on the dashboard. Are people expected to simply wait until they finish with whatever they are doing? The frustration can build up and may just lead to a pretty unsavoury end for both parties.

One fine example of irresponsibility is this entitled driver who parked his vehicle smack in the middle of a public back alley in Lorong Kurau, Bangsar. Given that it’s a back lane, there were also lorries and other cars parked perpendicularly at the side of the alley, which is wide enough to accommodate other cars that are passing through as well.

Strangely, the owner of one of the cute little eateries along Lorong Kurau (we can’t disclose which one), got the idea that he owns the back alley too! Parked right in the middle of the alley so drivers can’t go through, he left his car there without any contact details and went off. When we spoke to some of the staff, they mentioned that he does this all the time - how he has managed to get away with it for so long, we have no idea.

With no way forward, the only way out was back. Just try reversing your way out of a back alley with a drain on one side and lorries on the other - pretty nerve wracking (and an award-winning maneuver, we would say).

We sure hope irresponsible people learn their lesson. Simply put, don’t park like a *bleeep*!
