Disinfectant Spray Canister Explodes In A Taxi, Injures Taxi Driver

A leaking disinfectant spray canister was believed to have exploded and left a taxi mangled and its driver injured at Jalan CTA 4 near the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Saturday (July 24th).

According to NST, the taxi driver, Radzi Mokhtar was just leaving the airport after he dropped off a passenger and decided to light a cigarette which accidentally ignited the leaking can of disinfectant spray. 

Police said that it left the taxi driver with a minor burn on his arms and face, while his car was also badly damaged from the incident. 

The KLIA police chief Assistant Commissioner Imran Abd Rahman said police were alerted of the incident about 3:30 pm involving an explosion inside a moving article. 

Based on the Fire and Rescue Department’s investigation into the case, they said that the in-cabin explosion occured when the taxi driver decided to light a cigarette inside the vehicle which was filled with gas.

The victim suffered minor burns on his arms and face, and was sent to Putrajaya Hospital for treatment. 

So dangerous! We’re glad that the taxi driver is okay now…
