DG Hisham also said that its actual effectiveness at killing the virus depends on several factors.

“The effectiveness of this device is dependent on its dispersion ability. The disinfectant type used and its concentration as well as the contact time between disinfectant and surface,” he said in a statement.

As of now, the Health Ministry (MOH) has identified several surface disinfectants that are effective against the SARS-CoV-2 virus which is alcohol 70%-90%, hydrogen peroxide, thymol, quaternary ammonia and chlorine-based solutions.

He also warned the public that disinfecting solution is for surface disinfection ONLY, and not meant to be used directly on humans. Take note of this, guys!

“Contact with some of this solution may cause irritation to the eyes, skin, respiratory and gastrointestinal system. It is also important to highlight that the use of nano mist does not replace the requirement for standard surface cleaning,” he explained.

The sanitiser spray machine, also known as the nano mist sanitiser gun, recently became more popular, and is now a permanent fixture in shops, cars, as well as homes, seemingly to “keep the virus at bay.”

Please be careful! We don’t know the effects of the chemical solution to our body!

For more information, the public can view the Guidelines on Surface Disinfectant Registration stipulated by the ministry on the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory’s (NPRA) official website at www.npra.gov.my
