If you don’t already know, the first-ever COVID-19 case reported in Malaysia was an imported case recorded exactly a year ago today (January 25th, 2020).
And after a year of battling the virus, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has expressed his disappointment with the country’s current situation.
He took to Facebook to share his will to continue fighting, encouraged all frontliners to remain focused, and urged the public to do their part and stay safe.

Dr Noor Hisham even reminisced about the days mid-last year, when the country was reporting just single-digit cases a day, retweeting a picture from his daily press briefing on July 21st.
Malaysia first recorded more than 3,000 cases on January 7th, and hit a record-high for daily cases on Saturday (January 23rd) with 4,275 cases.
Dr Noor Hisham has been at the forefront of Malaysia’s fight against COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, and we can only share his sadness with how things have been going over the past few months, especially having to see so many people let their guard down in following SOPs.
Let’s make sure we do our part in flattening the curve and stay home as much as we can during this Movement Control Order (MCO).
We owe it to DG Hisham and all frontliners for all their hard work!
