Dining in at restaurants and eateries will no longer be limited to two to four people per table.
During his daily press briefing yesterday (December 9th), Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that the number of people sitting at a table is now based on the width of a table, and as long as there is physical distancing from one another.
“In Chinese restaurants, for example, a big round table which could fit 10 people in the past, may be cut down to six persons,” he said.
Ismail also pointed out that since car travel restrictions were eased earlier this week, it’s unreasonable for customers to split to different tables when they dine-in, in addition to help boost the economy.
“The flexibility given is also because we have to balance between health and economy. With permission across these districts and states, it will thus increase the country's economic activities, especially SMEs and family enterprises,” he said.
Ismail added that while the government continues to loosen restrictions under the ongoing Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), the fight against COVID-19, however, isn’t over yet, and urged Malaysians to continue to strictly follow SOPs.
