Birthday Party In Sabah Sparks New COVID-19 Cluster

A birthday party has sparked a new community cluster in Ranau, with 49 people infected so far.

According to NST, Sabah COVID-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the Kampung Kimolohing cluster stemmed from a local man who held a birthday party at his house.

The index case also attended another birthday party at his relative’s house.

He told reporters that the index case tested positive for COVID-19 on October 18th. Investigations found that the man held a birthday party at his home from October 12th to October 14th.

“Then on October 16th, the index case also attended a birthday party at his relative’s house.

“The index case began to be symptomatic on October 17th and underwent screening the next day and was confirmed positive,” Masidi said in a statement.

However, further investigation was still being carried out to know the exact cause of the infection.

The daily new COVID-19 cases in Sabah on Tuesday (October 26th) rose sharply to 565 cases compared to 450 cases on Monday.

Remember guys, limiting how many people we get together with in person, even when we and our friends all feel completely normal, reduces our chances of getting or spreading COVID-19!
