The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a bad weather warning, with heavy rains expected in Pahang, Sarawak, Johor and Sabah, until tomorrow (January 12th).

In an official statement, MetMalaysia said heavy rains are expected in Pahang involving the areas of Maran, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin, as well as Johor in Segamat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru.

“The same warning was also issued for Sarawak involving Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu and Mukah, while in Sabah it involved the hinterland in Kuala Penyu, Beaufort and Tambunan, in Sandakan (Telupid and Sandakan) and Labuan.”

“Heavy rains are also expected to continue on the west coast of Sabah, Sandakan and Beluran during the same period,” it added.

Meanwhile, as of the past weekend, over 50,000 people have been evacuated to flood relief centers, most of them on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, as the floods show no signs of subsiding just yet.

Our thoughts go out to all those affected, especially those who have lost loved ones swept away by strong currents.

Stay safe, guys!
