A 26-year-old woman who was supposed to self-quarantine for 14-days was spotted at a public market in Relau on Wednesday (4 November).

According to The Star, Georgetown OCPD Asst Comm Soffian Santong said, the woman was spotted trying to enter the market and was caught by a team from the north-east district health department during an SOP spot check.

“The woman is a Person Under Surveillance (PUS) who lives in Paya Terubong and works at a factory in Bayan Lepas,” he added.

A police report has been lodged against the woman by the district health department and she has been handed over for further investigation.

The woman could be slapped with a compound if investigations confirmed that she had violated her quarantine order.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced yesterday (4 November) that the CMCO will be implemented in the area of Penang from 6 November to 19 November due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases.

Malaysians, please be responsible! Take care of yourself and the people around you. Stay safe!
