6 Bank Officers Arrested By MACC For Suspicion Of Soliciting And Accepting Bribes

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested six bank officers on Tuesday (June 8th) on suspicion of soliciting and accepting bribes from individuals applying for personal loans.

According to Astro AWANI, the suspects aged between 36 to 45 are working at several banks in the Klang Valley area, and they were arrested at 4:45pm at the Selangor MACC office.

It was reported that the suspects received bribes worth RM18 million involving 110 transactions between 2018 and 2020.

Selangor MACC Director Datuk Alias Salim confirmed the arrest of the six individuals and said that all the suspects would be brought to the Shah Alam Magistrate’s Court on June 9th for a remand application.

“The bribe was in return for approving funding applications from applicants who were not actually eligible to make loans,” he said.
