This precautionary measure, announced by the Selangor State Forestry Department, comes in response to the Northeast Monsoon, which brings heavy rainfall and a heightened risk of flooding.
The closure aims to ensure the safety of visitors during this potentially dangerous period. Affected locations include popular spots such as:
-
Gunung Nuang
-
Sungai Tekala
-
Taman Rimba Komanwel
-
Sungai Tua
-
Sungai Sendat
The Northeast Monsoon, which began on 5 November 2024, is expected to last until March 2025, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department. While the East Coast typically experiences the heaviest rainfall, Selangor may also face flash floods and hazardous conditions in forested areas.
The Forestry Department urges the public to adhere to the closure notice and avoid visiting these parks during this time. By doing so, we can ensure that recreational activities will resume safely once the weather improves.
