After a nearly two week-long international break, the Premier League finally returned to action this past weekend. Here are five key talking points from the latest round of matches.

Man City are closing in on the EPL title.

The leaders have been unstoppable in the second half of the season.

They continued their march with a 2-0 win over Leicester, that leaves City needing just 11 points from their remaining seven matches to take home the Premier League trophy. Few would bet against them, with City having lost just one EPL match in 2021.

Man United hold tight to second place

The Red Devils’ 2-1 win over Brighton ensured they sit 14 points behind Man City, with a game in hand.

It is highly unlikely they can catch up with their neighbours, but the runners-up spot is looking increasingly possible.

They currently have a four-point lead over third-placed Leicester…with Chelsea and Tottenham nine and eleven points respectively behind United.

Liverpool revive their top-four hopes

The Reds’ impressive 3-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates has put them firmly back in the battle for a top four finish.

The display was a clear statement of intent from Jurgen Klopp’s side, who had been facing a rough patch before the international break. Liverpool are now in sixth place, but just two points adrift of the Champions League places.

Chelsea’s unbeaten run under Tuchel comes to an end

After going 14 matches unbeaten since the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as manager, the Blues finally tasted defeat…and what a defeat it was.

They went down 5-2 to strugglers West Brom at Stamford Bridge. Some are putting it down to player fatigue after the World Cup qualifiers, while others say it was just an off-day for Chelsea…but fans will be quietly hoping that this is not the beginning of a slump.

Tottenham let a lead slip…again.

Yet again this campaign…Tottenham have shown that they have trouble holding on to a lead.

2-1 up against Newcastle and just five minutes away from victory…and Spurs conceded an equaliser to the Magpies, with the match ending 2-2.
