Fortunately, the Standard Six student was found hiding under her bed at home by her parents at around 8:30 pm, 13 hours after they reported her missing.

Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) councilor, Chua Yew Choong said the girl was hiding while they searched for her the whole day.

She was found later in the evening with spare keys to the house, a handphone, a game console, and RM80 in cash.

Chen’s mother said that there was a possibility that her eldest daughter would run away from home because she had been hesitant to go to school recently.

Her parents told Sin Chew Daily that their daughter had previously told them she was getting bullied at school, but because of her quiet nature, she did not share more about what actually happened to her.

As far as they knew, Chen had been drenched in water while using the school bathroom three or four times recently.

“My daughter was being bullied but she did not tell her teacher. When I told the staff, one teacher wanted my daughter to be a “bait” to catch the bullies so she was even more scared to go to school,” she said.

Her dad told reporters that Chen had also been bullied by a younger student and when his daughter fought back, the school intervened and regarded it as a fight.

Children who are bullied are said to most likely have a negative impact psychologically, physically and a decrease in academic achievements.

Parents, please make sure that your children are safe at school! If they show any signs of being bullied, speak to them and report it to the school or the authorities.
