Who else grew up with a Tamagotchi? The SYOK team definitely did!

It is one of those childhood memories that instantly brings you back to simpler times, when keeping a tiny digital pet alive felt like the biggest responsibility in the world. Honestly, some of us still have one today. So when we found out that UNIQLO was releasing its latest UT collection inspired by Tamagotchi, we were genuinely excited and knew we had to get our hands on a few of the T-shirts.
Global apparel retailer UNIQLO is inviting fans of all ages to relive the joy of digital pet-raising with its latest UT collection, created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic Tamagotchi. Launching on 22 December, this special collaboration blends retro pixel art aesthetics with modern LifeWear, making it perfect for everyday wear while tapping into pure nostalgia.
A Walk Down Memory Lane
Back in 1996, Bandai introduced Tamagotchi, the egg-shaped handheld digital pet that quickly became a global phenomenon. From school bags to keychains, Tamagotchi was everywhere, and taking care of it became part of our daily routine. Fast forward to today, and that beloved companion is inspiring a dedicated UT collection filled with pixel-perfect graphics and playful designs.
Drawing from the original Tamagotchi look and feel, the collection brings classic characters and virtual world visuals to life on stylish apparel. Fans can spot familiar pixel art featuring the first-generation Tamagotchi shell and vintage game interface, alongside well-loved characters like Ginjirotchi, Kuchipatchi, Mametchi, Mimitchi and Pochitchi. Some pieces even come with embroidery and back-print details that celebrate Tamagotchi’s iconic life stages, from egg to hatchling, making the collection feel extra special for long-time fans.
UNIQLO Mini-Game Tamago Catch
To make the launch even more fun, UNIQLO has also introduced a special mini-game called Tamago Catch, available on its website. In this simple and interactive game, Mametchi appears dressed in UT and pops out from a Tamagotchi device to collect falling items and food. It is a playful digital experience that brings the nostalgic charm of Tamagotchi into the present day.
For anyone who grew up feeding, cleaning and worrying about their tiny pixel pet, this UT collection feels like a warm throwback to childhood. And for the SYOK team, it is proof that some things never really leave us. We just find new ways to enjoy them again.
