Merdeka 118 Tower Inauguration: A Historic Milestone, Public Access Anticipated in Late 2024

PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn. Berhad (PNBMV), the owner and builder of the Merdeka 118 tower, extends a heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming support and enthusiasm received from the people of Malaysia for the recent inauguration of the tower by DYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

PNBMV Chief Executive Officer Tengku Dato’ Ab. Aziz Tengku Mahmud said that the timeline allows for the finalisation of essential elements within the tower and the Merdeka 118 precinct to ensure an unparalleled visitor experience.

"We understand the public's eagerness to explore this landmark and we are committed to delivering a memorable experience, and this requires meticulous preparation," he said.

Rising proudly as a testament to Malaysia's rich heritage, diversity, and limitless potential, the Mereka 118 Tower which is 678.9 meters high is the tallest tower in Southeast Asia and the second tallest globally.

Here are some key dates to look forward to:

  1. Masjid Al-Sultan Abdullah – Now open to the public
  2. Merdeka Boulevard at 118 Park – Completion in Q2 2024
  3. Stadium Merdeka – Opens in Q2 2024
  4. Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur – Opens in Q3 2024
  5. The View at 118 Observation Deck – Opens in Q4 2024
  6. 118 Mall – Opens in Q3 2025

Masjid Al-Sultan Abdullah has a capacity of 3,000 and is located within the Merdeka 118 precinct.

Stadium Merdeka, which is at the heart of the Merdeka 118 precinct will reopen to the public by the middle of the year. The fully activated stadium with sports, lifestyle, entertainment, and leisure activities will be open for community use throughout the day and evening. Merdeka Boulevard at 118 Park will also be open at the same time.

The View at 118, will be the highest observation deck in Southeast Asia and the 2nd highest in the world, with activities for thrill-seekers such as the Edge Walk, where you can put on a harness and walk outside the tower. Once fully activated, the View at 118 is expected to cater for up to 3,000 visitors a day. There is also a Spire Climb, where you can climb up to the highest point of the tower at over 500 metres above ground.
