A Magical Weekend in Singapore: Beauty and the Beast and the Wonders of the City

We were thrilled when our friends at Base Entertainment Asia invited us to the Beauty and the Beast The Musical gala night in Singapore. Growing up a Disney fan, this was an invitation we simply could not refuse. The excitement of seeing a beloved story brought to life on stage combined with the chance to explore Singapore made it the perfect weekend getaway.

a magical weekend in singapore: beauty and the beast and the wonders of the city

Since we were already in the city, we decided to make the most of our trip and explore parts of Singapore we had never seen before. Even if you have visited Singapore before, there is always something new to discover, and this trip reminded us of that. Special thanks to our friends at @visit_singapore for their thoughtful recommendations, which helped us plan a packed but unforgettable weekend.

Day 1: Jewel Changi, Haji Lane, and the Musical Gala

Our adventure began early on Saturday morning. The flight from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore is just around an hour, so we arrived in time to enjoy some sightseeing before checking into our hotel. Our first stop was Jewel at Changi Airport, an attraction in its own right. Instead of taking the usual bus or skytrain, we decided to walk from Terminal 2 to Jewel, and it was an experience in itself. As soon as we entered, the HSBC Rain Vortex greeted us, a stunning indoor waterfall that is nothing short of spectacular.

Jewel offers so much to explore. We visited the Pokémon Center, wandered through The Magic of Adventure Disney Cruise Line decorations, and stopped by a Disney Store pop-up. Every corner of Jewel is designed to delight, making it a must-visit even if you are just passing through the airport.

After our time at Jewel, we headed to our hotel to check in and refresh. We then made our way to Haji Lane and Arab Street, areas we had never explored before. Haji Lane’s colourful murals and unique boutiques are perfect for a leisurely stroll, while Arab Street boasts the stunning Sultan Mosque and rich cultural heritage. The combination of art, history, and modern charm made this part of Singapore truly memorable.

As the afternoon rain began, we headed indoors to Marina Bay Sands. This was the highlight of the trip: Beauty and the Beast The Musical at the Sands Theatre. The production was nothing short of magical. From the intricate costumes and breathtaking sets to the powerful performances, every moment transported us into the world of Disney. Be Our Guest and Beauty and the Beast brought tears to our eyes, while the humour of Gaston, Lumière, and Cogsworth had us laughing throughout. It was a perfect reminder of why Disney musicals hold such a special place in our hearts.

Day 2: Universal Studios Singapore and Wizarding Adventures

The next morning, we headed to Resorts World Sentosa to experience Universal Studios Singapore. For anyone who loves films, music, and themed attractions, this is an essential stop in Singapore. We enjoyed all the major rides, explored themed areas, and even got to see the cast handprints from the Asia premiere of Wicked: For Good, which had taken place just a month prior.

The highlight of the day was stepping into the world of Harry Potter with Visions of Magic Asia Premiere. From the immersive set design to the interactive experiences, we felt like real witches and wizards. No visit would be complete without trying the famous butterbeer, which added a delicious touch of magic to our day.

Day 3: National Gallery Singapore and Jin’s Music Video Trail

Our final day began with a rainy morning, perfect for exploring indoor attractions.

We spent hours at the National Gallery Singapore, home to Southeast Asia’s largest public collection of modern art. The Into the Modern: Impressionism exhibition was a highlight, and we also followed BTS’ Jin’s “Don’t Say You Love Me” music video trail, standing in some of the very locations where he filmed. It was surreal to be in the footsteps of our favourite artist while exploring Singapore’s rich cultural and artistic heritage.

The gallery alone could easily fill an entire day. We left only to admire The Wonderfall at Terminal 2 International Departure, a beautiful display that kept us captivated for 45 minutes. Even as we prepared to board our flight back to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore’s charm and magic were impossible to forget.

This trip reminded us why Singapore is one of the most dynamic and accessible cities in the world. From iconic attractions like Marina Bay Sands, Jewel Changi, and Universal Studios Singapore to hidden gems such as Haji Lane, Arab Street, and the National Gallery, the city offers something for everyone. Getting around is simple with the MRT, and most attractions are walkable, making it easy to plan a full and exciting itinerary even in a short time.

Whether you are visiting for the arts, shopping, food, or cultural experiences, Singapore is a destination that always delivers. Add in the magic of world-class productions like Beauty and the Beast The Musical, and your weekend is guaranteed to be unforgettable.

Thank you, Singapore, for a magical weekend filled with music, laughter, and discovery. We cannot wait to return and explore even more of what this incredible city has to offer.
