#WFH Can Be Rough, But You Will Get Through This!

For some, working from home can be an isolating experience.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the conditional movement control order that was recently implemented in the state of Sabah, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya, remote work has become part of most employees’ everyday routine.

When we change the way we work, it is normal to get disoriented for a while, and this is why the first few weeks of WFH can be a little rough.

Here are some ways to become less isolated during the #CMCO.

1. Communication is key!

Talk to your colleague about everything, whether it’s work-related or how you’re feeling during this work from home period... Find a colleague that you trust, and share your problems with each other.

These small interactions can help you feel less alone and isolated.

2. Try a change of scenery

Staying indoors for a long period of time can’t be healthy for your body or your mind.

Take a break, and go out for a walk around your backyard or your neighbourhood. Every once or twice a week, work at a cafe instead of your bedroom. But remember to follow all the CMCO SOPs, wear your facemask and maintain physical distancing!

3. Stay connected!

Staying at home for a long period of time can sometimes feel like you’re disconnected from the outside world.

Besides calling friends and families to keep us company, there are hundreds of videos and apps on the internet that could keep us connected to the outside world and for us, we turn to SYOK to help us stay connected.

Here are some SYOK series that may brighten your days at home!

  • SYOK Explores

Follow Kyle and his friends Keanu Azman, Catalina, Piravina, and Husni trying things out for the first time like professional paintball, cryotherapy, waxing, and ballet!

  • Thank You Heroes

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many of us, especially during the implementation of the nationwide Movement Control Order (MCO) in March, some of us are struggling more than others. But as Malaysians, we’re all in this together, and these NGOs and individuals have gone above and beyond to help out their community!

Thank You, Heroes: Dapur Jalanan Kuala Lumpur

Dapur Jalanan Kuala Lumpur has been giving food assistance to the needy since 2013. During the Movement Control Order (MCO), they have ramped up their services by distributing basic food packs, essential items and hygiene kits among others, to not only the urban poor and homeless community, but also to those who have been marginalized and left out of work with no income due to the MCO. Thank you to these unsung heroes for their endless contribution in feeding the needy, especially during this critical time. We can only win this war together!
