Bar soaps are cheap, easy to find and can be used to wash everything! However, it is not advisable for you to use bar soaps on your face… Do you know why?

It’s great that you want to keep your face clean, but that doesn’t mean that you should reach for the closest bar of soap when you’re in the shower! Bar soap is actually a poor choice for your face, and here’s why, according to Avail Dermatology.
-
Bar soap is often scented and sometimes even dyed. These add-ons could spell trouble on how the bar soap treats your skin.
-
Bar soap can be abrasive, especially if the bar isn’t properly moistened prior to use.
-
Bar soaps don’t provide the same microdermabrasion benefits that so many liquid soaps have. Because of the shape, you may not get a full cleanse if you use the bar directly on your face.
However, liquid soaps can have a lot of the same problems because of:
-
The added cost of specialty liquid soaps, especially as a result of waste from excessive use
-
Added dyes or scents in liquid soaps (a similar issue in many bar soaps)
-
Exfoliating beads that can irritate the skin and cause redness

Whatever type of soap that you use for your face, you need to make sure that you are using a product that is intended for facial use. Using standard hand soap or body wash could leave your face red, dried out or even result in peeling of the skin.
Hope this helps and take care!
