You don’t have to travel to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam or Venice, Italy just to go on a river taxi, because soon it will be right here in the Klang River!

The Selangor Maritime Gateway (SMG) project will be led by the Environmental conservation company, Landasan Lumayan, as reported by the Malay Mail.
Locals and tourists can cruise along a 15-kilometre stretch of the Klang River from Pangkalan Urban Park to Mangrove Point, with 10 people per taxi.
How exciting is that?
The objective is to improve mobility and also to help improve economic and social services for people living in the rural areas there.

Operations are expected to begin next year!
“The objective of the river taxi is to improve mobility and access to economic and social services for people living in rural areas, with the two new jetties (at Pangkalan Batu Urban Park and Mangrove Point), it will create a new business ecosystem in Klang,” said Landasan Lumayan’s Head of Strategic Planning and Investment, Muhamad Fadhli Mansor.
River taxis were once the main mode of transportation for the people in Klang, and they hope it can be a part of a bigger plan to revitalise Klang as a business, tourism, and residential hub of Selangor.
We’re definitely going to be one of the first people to go on those river taxis!
