Pos Malaysia Berhad has launched its first festive stamp collection for 2020, in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year and the Year of the Rat.
The Rat is a symbol of wisdom and is seen as a sign of wealth and abundance. People who were born in this year are said to be quick-witted, positive and full of energy, get along well with others, instinctive, adaptable and smart.

Group Chief Executive Officer of Pos Malaysia Group, Syed Md Najib said that the new stamp collection marks the start of a new cycle for Pos Malaysia’s zodiac stamp series, as the rat is the first animal sign in the Chinese zodiac cycle. The limited edition Year of The Rat stamp collection is described to be as one of a kind and is a unique and meaningful souvenir or gift during the festive season.
The overall concept of the design focuses on Chinese motifs, patterns and elements with a modern touch, such as the application of colour-blocking technique and vibrant colours.
Pos Malaysia will be producing 3,888 pieces of folder sets and loose Setem Ku sheets for this collection. The Setem Ku sheet comes in 10 different designs, featuring Chinese characters “Shu” (Rat) and “Fu” Prosperity and priced at RM25 per sheet.
For a complete collection, customers are encouraged to purchase a complete folder set at RM38 only which consists of a stamp sheet, 3 pieces of souvenir covers, 2 postcards and a folder.
The folder set features illustrations of the rat and the character “Fu” (Prosperity). For avid collectors, an exclusive cancellation mark of Chinese character “Shu” (Rat) is also available on the day of issuance, completing the aesthetic collection.
The Chinese New Year rat-theme stamp series will be available for purchase on Thursday, 23 January 2020 at 13 General Post Offices and 13 selected Post Offices nationwide or via the online store www.eziemall.com under the “Stamp & Collectibles” link.
