Yes, popcorn is a snack. But did you know it also contains good nutrients that your body needs if it is prepared the right way?

According to Healthline, every 100 grams of popcorn contains vitamin B1, B3, B6 and is rich in iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc and even manganese.

But let’s be honest, we prefer our popcorn to be salty and sweet, so there’s often other ingredients added into it like caramel, salt and sugar that makes it no longer a healthy snack.

Popcorn itself is rich in fiber and it is also believed that popcorn can help to reduce inflammation and lower your risk of a heart disease.

Not only that, popcorn is also said to be good for improving our blood flow and digestion! Wow, so if you selalu kembung perut after a meal, maybe you should try eating popcorn and see if it helps with your digestion.

Other than that, popcorn contains polyphenols, which are antioxidants able to protect your body from free radicals, which are oxygen-containing molecules with an uneven number of electrons.

For those who don’t know, free radicals can cause large chain chemical reactions in your body because they react so easily with other molecules. These reactions are called oxidation. Wow, the more you know, right?

So, if you want to eat that bag of popcorn? Go ahead as it is very good for your health as long as there is no added sugar or salt in it.

Yum! Now we feel like having popcorn.
