According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association, hair loss is common following a fever or a sickness, and fever is a common COVID-19 symptom.

People have been reporting that they were losing their hair a few months after recovering from COVID-19. But it’s actually not hair loss because it’s simply hair shedding, medically called Telogen Effluvium.

Hair shedding might extend anywhere from six to nine months before it completely goes away, so don’t worry, guys, you’re not going bald.

It’s not unusual for a large number of hairs to enter the shedding phase all at the same time, but if you just recovered from a fever, more and more hair will be entering this shedding phase, so you’ll definitely experience hair loss more than usual.

You can see your hair starting to shed around two to three months after a fever, especially after a shower or when you’re brushing out your hair and it will last anywhere from six to nine months. Yes, almost a year!

But not to worry, your hair will be normal again once they stop shedding.

If it’s something other than Telogen Effluvium that’s causing your hair loss, you’ll definitely know as there will be rashes, itchiness, or burning… which is a sign to contact a dermatologist ASAP!

Hair fall can cause a lot of stress and worry, but if it’s caused by a fever - it will usually go back to normal on it’s own. All you have to do is wait!

And yes, your hair will regrow more rapidly than usual as well! In six to nine months, most people’s hair will return back to its original fullness.

Hope this helps!
